"Uhuhu!! oder Hexen- Gespenster- Schatzgräber- und Erscheinungs-Geschichten"
Georg Adam Keyser, Erfurt, 1787

The Case:

which more or less translates into the following:

"We can learn from the "Algemeine Polit. Zeitung" number 85 of this year, that the superstition of vampires is still alive. The Old-Greek priest of Zatwarnika, in the Sanok district, has been afraid to perform the Mass for the last three weeks, because he suspects some of his flock to be vampires. How sad it still looks in the rural regions !"

The Date:

The event is reported to have taken place in 1787.

The Place:

Zatwarnica can be found in the very SouthEast of Poland, between the borders with Slovakia and Belarus. And Sanok can be found to the NorthWest of Zatwarnica.

Possible Follow-Up:

What can I say ? Go find and read "Uhuhu".
