The Sources:

L. Baroti:
"Beitrage zur Geschichte des Vampyrismus in Südungarn"
in: "Ethnologische Mitteilungen aus Ungarn", Budapest, 1894

The Case:

1752. 20. Feber. -
(Rot. Karansebeser Verwalteramt III, 169)

In my own words:

The "Verwalteramt" of Karasebes indicates that there have been a lot of deaths in the town of Slatina. And the people from Slatina, pretending that this was the work of "Blutsauger", have dug up 4 people, both men and women, have cut out their innards and then reburied them face down. Despite the fact that these acts had been forbidden to them under the severest sanctions, by the authorities as well by the clergy.

The Date:

The report dates back to the year of 1752.

The Place:

Slatina is the District Capital of the district Olt. The town can be found West of Bucharest.

Possible Follow-Up:

And then I found an old magazine. In it was an article that almost exclusively contained references to other people's work. I checked out some of those references and then found Prof. Dr. Baroti's 2 page article in another old magazine. Amazingly the good man managed to squeeze no less than 13 authentic cases of vampirism on to those pages. So go find it, go check it out !
