The Case:

So what do we have ? During the plague of 1656, in Prausnitz, gravediggers discovered the corpse of a woman that had been biting at her thumbs. The gravediggers had to break her hands away from her mouth. Apparently the matter was reported and an investigation was started to see if there were others who were doing the same in their graves. And as a result of the investigation the gravedigger Adam Hennig was arrested and executed.

The Date:

The event is reported to have taken place in 1656.

The Place:

Prausnitz is now called Prusice and can be found North of Wroclaw, a little NorthWest of Trzebnica.

Possible Follow-Up:

Go find and read Karen Lambrecht's interesting article. And then see if you can find other sources.
