The Case:

When work had started on a new ringroad around the town of Gliwice, 4 decapitated skeletons were found, where the head had been placed between the hands or the legs. Despite the fact that the archeologists tried to tone things down, this was picked up by the media as the "discovery of a vampire cemetery". Of course this only got worse after quite a few other skeletons were found that had been treated in a similar manner.

The Date:

As to the date, the skeletons are estimated to date back to the 15th or 16th Century.

The Place:

Gliwice (the old German name is Gleiwitz) is a reasonably large town in the South of Poland, that can be found a little to the West of Katowice, Not very far from the Czech border.

Possible Follow-Up:

Not a bad case to put your fangs into. Plenty of media coverage, worldwide. There are nice photos. Bits of video, no doubt. There are the names of the archeologists. It should not be hard to turn this into a very large file.
