The Sources:

L. Baroti:
"Beitrage zur Geschichte des Vampyrismus in Südungarn"
in: "Ethnologische Mitteilungen aus Ungarn", Budapest, 1894

The Case:

"1725. 1. Aug. --
(Rot.Lugos-Facseter Verwaltersamt, I. 1725, 18)"

This concerns a request from the "Unterverwalter" of the Lugos-Facseter District regarding the excommunication of the parish of Babscha on account of the "Blutsauger" that they had cremated.

The Date:

The report dates back to the year of 1725.

The Place:

Babsa (Romanian name) or Babscha (German) can be found East of Timisoara and North-West of Lugoj.

Possible Follow-Up:

Following a lead in some weird old magazine, that almost exclusively contained references to other people's work, I found Prof. Dr. Baroti's 2 page article in another old magazine. Amazingly the good man managed to squeeze no less than 13 cases of vampirism on to those pages. So go check it out !
