The Source:

Edm. Veckenstedt:
"Wendische Sagen, Märchen und abergläubische Gebräuche"
Verlag von Leuschner & Lubensky, Graz, 1880

The Case

This more or less translates into the following:

"A farmer from Auras fell from his cart and broke his neck. During the night after his funeral he returned from his grave to his son, and sucked up his blood, so that the son died soon after. When these events became know in the village, the corpses were burnt to prevent further dammage."

The Date:

No date is given, so we will have to file this as before 1880, since that is the year when the book was published.

The Place:

Auras is a tiny village in the East of Germany. It can be found East of Drebkau and South of Cotbus.

Possible Follow-Up:

Find and read Veckenstedt's "Wendische Sagen, Märchen und abergläubische Gebräuche". From there, it will be up to you.
